Why Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is a powerful and developmentally appropriate form of therapy designed specifically for children. Because play is a child’s natural language, it allows them to express thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be difficult to communicate verbally. In Play Therapy, a trained therapist supports the child in exploring life events and feelings at their own pace through play, storytelling, art, and movement. This process helps children build coping and social skills, process challenging experiences, and relieve emotional stress.
While most effective for children between the ages of three and twelve, Play Therapy can also benefit adolescents and adults by helping them reconnect with and heal from early experiences.
Since 2016, Airmid has been dedicated to supporting the emotional and mental well-being of children and families. Our Children’s Play Therapy Center, directed by Meg Clawson, with four fully equipped playrooms designed to foster expression, healing, and growth, features traditional Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy, as well as art materials, puppets, and our Somatic Movement Therapy Room, a holistic space supporting children who have experienced complex stress or trauma.
Our compassionate team specializes in helping children heal from challenges such as loss, neglect, abuse, bullying, exposure to violence, and other adverse experiences. At Airmid, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where every child can feel seen, supported, and empowered on their healing journey.
